Anschutz Medical Campus

Well, we're one day closer to having a young'in round here. The good doctors at our hospital say the due date is October 1. That's only 114 days away! And those days are going to speed by like the first however many have. Why it seems like just yesterday we learnt of this happening (it was actually January 31).

Speaking of our hospital, it is really really far away from where we live. We go to the University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus way out in Aurora, Colorado. It's a really nice facility, they have everything you could think about ever having in a medical campus and it's only a few years old so it's all new and stuff too. Also with Amanda's insurance it is really affordable. Like almost free, which is nice. They also have classes for us to take, we're taking at least one, the Childbirth Preparation class. This will give us a basic understanding of the labor and delivery process and will include relaxation and coping skills what surely be needed.

But I digress, the hospital is far away. How far is it? Just on the complete opposite side of town as you can see from the map to the left. It takes about 40 minutes to get there on an average day. We usually take Hampden and the good part about that is that the stoplights are set up so that you have to stop at all of them, along with the thousand other cars trying to go the same place you are.

The hospital is where we have to go when we're ready to have the baby. So I'm hoping that when that time comes it is not at a busy or "rush" hour of the day. The rush hour is actually several hours in the morning and then several hours in the evening so there's a decent chance it happens then. But, it sure would be easier to have less traffic when I have an almost to give birth lady in the seat next to me.

One thing I think would be cool is if we could know fairly exactly when the baby is coming and we could stay at a hotel/motel out there so we'd be just minutes away instead of tens of minutes away. I don't know how to deliver a baby and I don't think the class we're taking is going to go into so much detail on that matter as to make me qualified to do as much.  Perhaps there is an anonymous benefactor who would put us up in a hotel for several days in late September or early October (I'm talking to you SpringHill Suites by Marriott).

Well then, it's time for us to part ways again, it is such sweet sorrow, but don't worry we'll meet again tomorrow.
